He received his Associate of Arts degree from Tarrant County College in December, 2007 and graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington obtaining a Bachelor's of Science - Information Systems in August, 2009 through the College of Business Administration with a final GPA 3.053.

Current Extracurricular Involvements

Educational Goals

John is in consistent pursuit of data, information, knowledge, and wisdom, which he believes will lead to truth. A master and doctorate degree are his long-term pursuits, but now is not the time for that. He is learning an immense amount right now as a newlywed and working for a software development company where he gets to play many different roles. Since graduation, he has learned so much about real world application development by studying and using .NET technologies at work and how those applications interact and integrate with SQL Server databases. In November 2009, John got married and is still learning how to be a good husband. Through the Association of IT Professionals - Dallas Chapter, he is learning so much about professional development and Business / IT alignment.

In August of 2009, he directed a summer camp called the Knowledge and Innovation Development for Students (KIDS) Camp. With a partnership between UTA, AITP, and Mission Arlington, the team was able to teach students between 10 and 14 years of age about information technology. John played the teacher role in addition to director and led classes concerning the importance and history of the web, building web pages, and morning orientation topics in: internet safety and etiquette, new IT discovery, and helping the local / global community with technology.

Schools for Consideration ... Down the Road

John is currently considering his pursuit for higher education. He wants to become a leader in Information Technology through research in Human-Computer interaction by understanding the theory of how information is best perceived by its users. He wants to also learn the 'career path' towards truth by its progression from data to information to knowledge to wisdom in hopes that truth will then be displayed. He believes that ultimately, God is truth, and so the 'career path' will then lead him to a tangible and quantitative understanding of Christian theology that can be shared with others through Human-Computer interaction.

These are the schools that he would like to study from:

Dallas Theological Seminary

DTS offers a Master of Theology in Evangelism and Discipleship that will aid in his search for truth. His hope is that the opportunity at DTS will help him verbalize an understanding of the scriptures in their original context to help him build a worldview he can share with others for the sake of the gospel.

The University of Michigan

The University of Michigan
UMich offers a dual Master's in Business Administration and Information or a PhD of Information that may be beneficial to his understanding of Human and Computer Interaction learning how information is processed.

The Southern Methodist University Guildhall

The SMU Guildhall
Guildhall offers a Master of Interactive Technology in Digital Game Development. The degree here would prepare John to utilize what was learned by the previous two academic institutions. His hope here would be to utilize human interaction within the framework of a biblical worldview to create entertainment content that would reach a broad audience for the purpose of the gospel.
